As a a free market capitalist, I tend to agree with the great Ludwig von Mises, who articulated that, “capitalism has raised the standard of living among the masses to a level which our ancestors could not have imagined.” So, i was a bit ticked that i missed these two great pieces in Time Magazine. (I need to renew that subscription) Article #1 illustrates a beautiful thing about capitalism. Two banks with previously similar modus operandi choosing different paths. They have made a calculated bet on what they believe is the best way to adapt to the new financial landscape. Article #2 - a great piece of journalism. Presents both sides and leaves it up to the reader to evaluate the intrinsic merits of both sides. It's rather interesting how Goldman's CEO exemplifies the true spirit of capitalism - through his personal story and executive decisions.
