I love life-saving inventions inspired by urgent social problems. And I was delighted to watch Jane Chen's talk on TED about a design which can have tremendous social impact in developing countries. The blanket-like creation is meant to protect [by keeping them warm] premature babies stuggling to stay alive due to their inability to regulate their body . According to Chen, 4 out of 20 million premature babies born around the world die. With this creation, a $25,000 incubator is replaced by a $25 creation, eliminating deaths caused by access to incubators in developing countries. Check out their website to learn more.
