The' extraordinary' life and death of David Burgess

As much as I respect and believe in the power of imagination, I've always preferred non-fiction to any version of its counterpart. This piece lends credence to my bias toward a good ol' fashioned true story. What a complex woman. Very seldom do you hear the words "unique imagination" used to describe a lawyer's work but for a person drawn to defending the marginalised, the characterization is a perfect one. It's deservedly wordy (about 2,500) but well worth reading.

It's always a treat when a writer life The Observer's Elizabeth day strikes that right balance between being a journalist and honoring the life of a unique division.
